Privacy and data handling
This page explains how the Sitemap Checker processes information when you validate a sitemap or scan a site.
The Sitemap Checker is designed to provide validation or a site scan (up to 50 pages) without storing submitted URLs or scan results.
No data stored. Scan limited to 50 pages.
Overview
The Sitemap Checker is a tool that either validates an existing sitemap (e.g. sitemap.xml) or scans your website (up to 50 pages) so you can export a sitemap file. It checks one URL at a time—your website or sitemap address.
Validation and scan results are generated in real time and displayed in your browser. They are not stored or retained on the server once the check is complete.
What data is processed
When you run a check, the tool processes the URL you submit. For validation it fetches the sitemap file; for a site scan it follows same-domain links (up to 50 pages). Limited, anonymised usage data may be collected to improve the reliability of the tool.
This tool does
- Process the URL you submit to validate a sitemap or scan your site
- Fetch sitemap XML or crawl pages during the session
- Display results in your browser
- Record anonymised usage events such as page views and check runs
This tool does not
- Store submitted URLs
- Store validation or scan results after the check completes
- Create user profiles or track individual users
- Collect personal information such as names, email addresses, or IP addresses
- Use analytics data for advertising, remarketing, or cross-site tracking
Data storage and downloads
Results are generated on demand and displayed in your browser. They are not stored or retained on the server once the check is complete.
If you download a report (JSON or sitemap.xml), it is generated for your use and saved locally by you. The tool does not receive or retain copies of downloaded files.
- Scope — One URL per check; scan up to 50 pages
- Storage — No saved results
- Downloads — Generated locally by you
- Tracking — Anonymised usage only
Cookies and logs
The site may use limited, first-party analytics to measure basic usage (e.g. page views and check runs). These are used solely to understand how the tool is used and to improve reliability.
Standard technical logs may be generated by the hosting platform for security and operational purposes. They are not used for profiling, advertising, or cross-site tracking.
Third-party services
If the site uses Google Analytics, it is solely to measure anonymised usage. Submitted URLs and check results are not sent to third-party analytics or advertising platforms.
If you follow links to external websites, those sites operate independently and their own privacy policies apply.
